Unit Description:
The RMH Nephrology Service encompasses all aspects of the care of patients with kidney disease – Nephrology, Dialysis, Transplantation and Nephrology Surgery.
The Department of Nephrology is one of Australia’s largest and oldest renal services and is based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital Parkville Campus with extensive outreach through the RMH network. The Department delivers a continuum of care for people with acute and chronic kidney disease including transplantation, dialysis, conservative care and end of life care. Our inpatient, outpatient, outreach and remote services are designed to be appropriate and timely to meet a broad range of patient needs. Services are developed in consultation and collaboration with our patients, families, partner health services, primary health care and community services.
As one of Australia’s largest and most dynamic renal transplant units, the Department works collaboratively through a shared care model to provide transplant services to Tasmania, non-transplanting renal hubs, private dialysis units and other transplanting services by referral. The service includes 1 acute dialysis service (6W), 1 home training unit, several metropolitan dialysis units (Essendon and Coburg and City), and 18 regional dialysis units.
About the role:
We are seeking a visionary and clinically astute Specialist Nephrologist to join our team in a dual-capacity role as a senior clinician and Lead in Dialysis. This 0.8EFT ongoing position is designed for a leader who balances high-level clinical governance with a hands-on commitment to patient-centred care.
The successful candidate will oversee the strategic direction of our diverse dialysis services - including satellite and home-based programs - while maintaining a robust clinical presence in outpatient clinics and inpatient ward services.

About You:
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
- MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
- FRACP (Nephrology)
- PhD
