Specialist Gastroenterologist - Clinical Nutrition

14hours per fortnight Fractional/ Ongoing

Unit Description:

The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is a comprehensive department that manages all aspects of gastrointestinal disorders. It has enthusiastic and caring physicians that specialise in different disciplines within the luminal gastrointestinal tract and hepatopancreatic biliary system. The team is supported by advanced trainees in Gastroenterology and allied health in the form of nurse practitioners, research nurses, nutritionists and research staff.

About the role:

This Gastroenterologist (Clinical Nutrition) role will provide specialist leadership in the assessment and management of complex nutrition-related disorders within a tertiary referral centre.  The role includes managing complex patients requiring enteral nutrition tube feeding and assessment of patients requiring total parenteral nutrition (TPN).  The role integrates inpatient and outpatient care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and service development to enhance the quality, safety, and efficiency of clinical nutrition care across the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

About You:

  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
  • MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in clinical nutrition
  • Commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork and high-quality patient-centred care
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in gastroenterology, with a particular interest or expertise in clinical nutrition, malnutrition management, and complex medical patients.
  • Experience in the assessment and management of patients requiring enteral and/or parenteral nutrition across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Ability to provide high-quality, evidence-based care within a tertiary referral hospital environment.
