Position Title: Specialist: Gastroenterologist (with IUS expertise)
Employment Status: Fractional / Fixed Term
Hours per fortnight:
14 hpfn (01/04/2026 – 04/10/2026)
7 hpfn (05/10/2026 – 23/02/2027)

Unit Description:
The Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is a comprehensive department that manages all aspects of gastrointestinal disorders. It has enthusiastic and caring physicians that specialise in different disciplines within the luminal gastrointestinal tract and hepatopancreatic biliary system. The team is supported by advanced trainees in Gastroenterology and allied health in the form of nurse practitioners, research nurses, nutritionists and research staff.
About the role:
The Successful applicant will be an IBD specialist with expertise in Intestinal Ultrasound (IUS), working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care. This role demands strong clinical judgement, clear and effective communication, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic tertiary healthcare environment to support optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.

About You:
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
- MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent specialist qualification
- Demonstrated experience in the management of IBD patients across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Demonstrated competency in Intestinal Ultrasound (IUS) for IBD assessment
- Strong clinical decision‑making skills and the ability to manage complex cases
