The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Service (RMH MHS) delivers trauma-informed, recovery-focused care that supports Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB).
In this role, you will work collaboratively across programs to ensure Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people experiencing mental health and psychosocial challenges receive culturally safe and appropriate care. You will be part of the SEWB Team—an Aboriginal-led workforce of clinical and lived/living experience professionals.
Your new role:
- The SEWB Team provides culturally appropriate and welcoming mental health support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers across RMH MHS.
- Provide direct cultural consultation and welcoming for consumers, families, kin and carers.
- Deliver culturally safe SEWB‑informed clinical care for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander adults accessing RMH MHS.
- This position works across a few sites including Moonee Ponds, Parkville and Flemington.
About you:
- You identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background and have experience with working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities.
- You understand the Social and Emotional Wellbeing model, and holistic healthcare.
- Hold a clinical qualification (and registrations/memberships as applicable) in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Psychiatric Nursing
- Have experience (or willingness to develop skills) in public mental health service delivery.
- You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with consumers, carers, service delivery staff and service leaders.
