Theatre Technician - Cardiac Investigative Services 
The Royal Melbourne Hospital

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team, located at The Royal Melbourne - City Campus 
 

The Cardiac Catheter Laboratories caters for patients undergoing elective and emergency cardiac procedures with a 24/7 on call service comprising of 3 labs. Procedures include Coronary Angiogram, Pacing, Trans aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), complex congenital structural intervention and is a world known leader in Cardiac Arrhythmias.  


2 South East consists of a pre-admission clinic for cardiology and cardio-thoracic patients as well as a cardiology day ward (12 beds and 4 recliner chairs) and a procedure room, where elective patients come for a variety of procedures including Coronary Intervention, Pacing, Trans Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), complex congenital structural intervention EPS/RFA, PPM, ICD, generator replacements, TOE/DCR, and Ajmaline challenges. The ward also prepares cardio-thoracic patients on the day of surgery and facilitates early morning discharges from the Cardiology Ward.  

 

About the role:

  • Facilitate safe and efficient journey of patients through 2SE, Cath Lab and Cardiology ward 
  • Undertake standard duties of a theatre technician, which include supporting elective and emergency procedures & responding to the needs of the department.
  • Ensure that the Cath Lab/procedure room is clean and efficiently set up for all procedures, according to the check List and the equipment required for the procedure are sterilised and available prior to the start of the procedure. 
  • Clean and return used equipment to CSSD, as well as clean the Cath Lab floor and empty all linen bins and assist in patient transfers. 

 

About you:

Qualifications 

  • Certificate III in Health (Patient Services)-Essential  
  • Certificate IV in Operating Theatre Technical Support-Desirable 

​​Essential: 

  • Current Working With Children’s Check (WWCC)
  • Commitment to live the Melbourne Way - putting people first, leading with kindness and achieving excellence together. 
  • Minimum 6 Months experience in health care additional to Certificate III placements 
  • Availability to work full range of shifts  
  • ​​Desirable:​ 
  • Previous Theatre, Cath Lab, or Interventional Radiology Experience
