The Perioperative Services Department at the Royal Melbourne Hospital are currently seeking highly motivated Theatre Technician Manager to lead our theatre technician team.

As one of Melbourne’s leading tertiary trauma centres, our operating suite includes 16 theatres, 3 Anaesthetic supported off the floor procedure areas, and 25 recovery bays. We support a wide range of major surgical procedures, including kidney transplants, free flap reconstructions, complex neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and major orthopaedic trauma such as pelvic and multi-trauma cases.

Perioperative Services are delivered across four main locations: Main Theatres, CSSD (Central Sterilising Services Department), 3East/23hr Unit, and 3West Day Procedure Unit. 

Your New Role: 

The Theatre Technician Manager will work closely with the Perioperative Services Leadership Team to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of surgical procedures across the theatre complex. This role is responsible for the effective coordination, supervision, and leadership of the theatre technician team, including operational oversight, workforce planning, equipment management, and promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

About you:

• Certificate IV – Operating Theatre Technical Support (Theatre Technician)
• Previous management experience
• Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary health care team
• Work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary health care team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of reliability and professional conduct
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment
