Job Description: 

Technical Officer Prosthetics & Orthotics Grade 3

The Royal Melbourne Hospital

 

  • One of the largest prosthetics departments in Victoria, specialising in amputee rehabilitation and providing orthotic services to Royal Park Campus inpatient wards.
  • Work with clinical staff to fabricate a wide variety prosthetic and orthotic devices.
  • 5 weeks annual leave with ADO's.

 

Your new role: 

  • Collaborate with team members to provide patients with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular deficits with devices that will assist them to perform daily functions in their home, work and community settings.
  • Help educate new staff in prosthesis/orthosis manufacture and workplace safety.
  • Monitor production quality and investigate new materials & techniques for fabricating.
  • Help create a safe and functional workplace environment.

 

About you:

  • Extensive experience in the fabrication of a broad range of prosthetic/orthotics devices.
  • Training in advanced lower limb prosthesis lamination techniques.
  • Familiarity with fabrication of upper limb mechanical systems and myoelectric devices incorporating pattern recognition systems.
  • Mastery of thermoplastic drape and blister forming techniques.
