Job Description: 

Specialist in General Practice / General Medicine – Snow Centre for Immune Health (Healthy Volunteer Stream)

14 hours per fortnight, until 31 October 2027

Unit Description:

The Snow Centre for Immune Health (Centre) has a global mission to improve the lives of people with immune diseases, using a new approach to immune health. The Centre, co-led by WEHI and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, will bring together leading Australian and international researchers with a shared mission to transform how to assess and treat immune system disorders. Our goal is to accelerate discoveries into the underlying features and markers of immune health, to identify disease causes early and target appropriate treatment. The Centre has been established in partnership with the Snow Medical Research Foundation.

About the role:

The Centre is seeking a medical practitioner to lead the Healthy Donor Program. This role will support clinical assessment and eligibility screening of potential participants. The successful applicant will hold primary responsibility for recruiting healthy donors, screening for potential medical conditions, overseeing the safe collection of biospecimens, supporting donor retention from the community and maintaining relationships with established biobanks such as the Twin Registry.

This is a collaborative, research-facing role within the Snow Centre team, suited to a clinician who is confident working with volunteers and able to support high-quality, ethically sound research. The successful applicant will be appointed to the Snow Centre of Immune Health through the Royal Melbourne Hospital and will establish and advance the Centre’s goals through collaboration with the Centre’s scientific and clinical staff across the Royal Melbourne Hospital and WEHI.

About You:

  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
  • MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • Fellowship
