Specialist Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon
Fractional/Fixed Term 17.5hpfn, commencing 19 January 2026 – 19 July 2026 for Maternity Leave cover
The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community-based facilities. Unit Description:
The Royal Melbourne Hospital Vascular Surgery Unit is Victoria’s founding vascular surgery unit. We are a quaternary-level university teaching hospital, and we manage the full range of vascular surgery conditions, excepting cosmetic venous procedures. We manage planned, urgent and emergency vascular presentations. Royal Melbourne Hospital is a designated level 1 adult trauma service. We provide clinical support to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital. We are a collaborative and supportive team, and have a modern hybrid operating suite facility, enabling advanced and comprehensive open and endovascular treatment.
About the role:
- 17.5 HPF average, comprising 3 full-day operating sessions per 4 weeks, weekly unit multidisciplinary meeting and outpatient clinic.
- On-call commitment of 1 night per week (Thursdays) and one weekend (Friday 7PM to Monday 7AM) per 5 weeks.

About You:
- General and Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Vascular Surgery
- Membership of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery
- Commitment to audit and peer review and holding a current AVA Participation Certificate.
- Well-developed communication, decision making, and presentation skills
