Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon – Spine
12-month Fixed Term Fractional position commencing September 2025

Unit Description:
The Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of two level-one trauma centres in Victoria and deals with large volumes of spine, pelvic and acetabular fractures. The department is situated on the 8th Floor of RMH and works in close collaboration with the department of Rheumatology forming a department of Musculoskeletal Clinical Care and Research. There is a dedicated office with access to modern computers and the internet. A departmental library is also provided.
About the role:
The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon, with a speciality interest in Spine Trauma to join the team. The applicant is expected to join in all activities of the Orthopaedic Department and work closely with the Head of the Department, Consultants and Registrars. The applicant will also be expected to participate in teaching activities within the Department.
About You:
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
- MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
- Ability to work in a team
- Well-developed communication and presentation skills.
- Post-Graduate Training in Spine Surgery including having undertaken formal Training in an approved Spine Fellowship
- Previous employment at Trauma Hospital including Surgical Management of Spine Trauma and Spine Injuries
