Job Description: 

Position A - First Year Specialist Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon

6 hours per fortnight with Rostered (Exclusive) On-Call for 6 months

The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community-based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world-renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

Unit Description:

Large and busy Orthopaedic Unit managing high volume of Orthopaedic Trauma Cases. Surgeons of varying expertise and experience managing patients collectively and collaboratively within the Orthopaedic Unit as well as across other Surgical Specialties

About the role:

You will provide On-Call services and follow up Trauma Theatre Cover according to the Roster, Regular Outpatient Clinic and attendance at Weekly Orthopaedic Unit Audit as Required

Position B - Specialist Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon

14hpfn Fractional/ Fixed Term 01 August 2026 – 01 August 2027 (Leave Cover)

About the role:

This role will work closely with the Head of Orthopaedic Surgery, Deputy Head of Orthopaedic Surgery, Specialist Staff of Orthopaedic Surgery, Orthopaedic Registrars and HMOs, Nursing and Theatre Staff and Allied Health staff.  The role will have a particular focus on maintaining and further developing service delivery and high-quality care for the management of Orthopaedic (foot and ankle) Conditions, as well as oversight of clinical outcomes.

About You:

  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Fellowship Qualification and Membership
  • Recent Graduate of the Australian Orthopaedics Association
