Job Description: 

Position: Specialist Neurologist - Neuromuscular

Employment Status: Fractional / Fixed Term

Hours: 7hrs per fortnight, (0.1EFT)

Unit Description:

The RMH Neurology Unit is one of Australia’s busiest clinical units. It offers a full range of inpatient, ambulatory care and outpatient services and a busy clinical trials and research unit. In addition to the comprehensive stroke center, there is dedicated video-EEG monitoring unit, specialist service for patients with multiple sclerosis and other inflammatory conditions, including a day procedure unit with infusion services, movement disorders including deep brain stimulation, neuromuscular conditions including neurophysiology, and neuro-ophthalmology. We serve as a tertiary referral service for most of the state. We aim to provide comprehensive, high quality and efficient care. As consultant, you will be directly responsible for the management of stroke patients when on stroke ward service.  The medical staff includes 4 advanced trainees in neurology, neurology fellows (undertaking subspecialty training), basic physician trainees, junior medical residents (PGY2) and interns. You will work closely with the neurology multidisciplinary health team.  

About the role:

This role involves assisting in the conduct of Neuromuscular clinical trials, taking part in participant assessment, outcome measures, safety monitoring and any other tasks required in clinical trial protocols within the Neuromuscular unit.

 About You:

Mandatory Qualifications for the role are as follows:

  • MBBS or equivalent tertiary degree
  • Fellowship in Neurology
  • Specialist registration with AHPRA
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certified
  • Subspeciality training in Neuromuscular medicine

Desirable but not essential for Performance in this Position:

  • Prior experience in clinical trials.
  • Research experience and publications comparable with their degree of seniority
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
