Position Title: Specialist Diagnostic Haematologist
28 hours per fortnight. Fraction / Ongoing position - Commencing 13th October 2025

Unit Description:
The Haematology laboratory at the Royal Melbourne Hospital is a busy 24/7 laboratory supporting the level 1 trauma unit, emergency department, large ICU and multiple specialty units. There is a strong pedigree in registrar teaching, preparing our haematology trainees for a career assisting high acuity care in a tertiary referral teaching hospital.
About the role:
The Specialist Haematologist will supervise the haematology laboratory and the haematology registrars. They will be proficient in blood film morphology, transfusion medicine, coagulation testing, specialised haematology testing and consultative haematology. There is an on-call commitment of approximately 1 week in 4. They will report to the Director of Diagnostic Haematology.

About You:
The Specialist Haematologist will have a track record of teaching registrars and scientific staff. They will be punctual, reliable and capable of self-directed prioritisation of tasks and learning. Participation in management meetings and governance committees will be encouraged.
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
- MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia
