The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Service (RMH MHS) is dedicated to delivering trauma-informed, recovery-focused care that supports Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB).

This newly created SEWB Team Leader role is a key leadership position within our growing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce. The role works collaboratively across services to ensure Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people experiencing mental health and psychosocial challenges receive culturally safe, trauma-informed care.

As a senior clinician and leader, this position is part of the SEWB Team—an Aboriginal-led workforce comprising clinical and lived/living experience expertise.

Your new role:

• Lead, mentor and support SEWB clinical and lived experience staff in the provision of the SEWB model.
• The SEWB Team provides culturally appropriate and welcoming mental health support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers across RMH MHS.
• The team provide direct cultural consultation and welcoming for consumers, families, kin and carers.
• Deliver culturally appropriate SEWB‑informed clinical care for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander adults accessing RMH MHS.
• This position works across a few sites including Moonee Ponds, Parkville and Flemington.

About you:

• You identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background and have experience with working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities.
• You have a sound understanding the Social and Emotional Wellbeing model, and its incorporation into mainstream mental health care.
• Hold a clinical qualification (and registrations/memberships as applicable) in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Psychiatric Nursing.
• Have at least 5 years of experience in public mental health service delivery.
• You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with consumers, carers, service delivery staff and service leaders.
