Your new role:
Community Team 1 (CT1) provides care to consumers living in Melbourne’s CBD and Inner West, and holds the homeless portfolio for RMH Mental Health Services. The team uses an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model, offering intensive, community-based care through a team approach. This includes medication management, psychosocial support, psychological interventions, crisis assessment, and referral to housing, financial, and vocational supports.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN4) or a suitably skilled RPN3 ready to step into greater responsibility and autonomy. This is a unique opportunity to work with complex consumers in a supportive team and make a real difference for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply your extensive psychiatric nursing experience in the delivery of evidence-based treatment and interventions, ensuring the provision of high-quality assertive outreach and care coordination of services to adults experiencing mental health and AOD issues as well as homelessness.
- Work with a team of enthusiastic multidisciplined professionals providing assertive outreach and high-quality care to some of Melbourne’s most marginalised people.
- Enjoy the benefits of working closely with colleagues in a combination of clinic based and assertive outreach work in the CBD of Melbourne.
About you:
- Interested in working with homeless consumers directly in the community.
- Possess formal qualifications and registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
- Enjoy working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of effective evidence-based interventions appropriate to low prevalence disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorder, relapse prevention and substance abuse.
- Possess established skills including initiative, advanced communication skills and the capacity and willingness to further develop these.
- Demonstrate at least 5 years of experience in the provision of specialist services in public mental health settings with a strong focus on local communities and inter-agency specific knowledge.
