Senior Clinician

The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services (RMH MHS)

(12-month parental leave cover until Feb 2027)

 

  • Be part of the Substance Use and Mental Illness Treatment Team
  • Full time or Part time position available
  • Open to Psychologist Grade 3, RPN Grade 4, OT Grade 3 and SW Grade 3 Applicants

 

About RMH and the team:

Join the Substance Use and Mental Illness Treatment Team (SUMITT) a specialist multidisciplinary team embedded within RMH Mental Health Services and working in close partnership with RMH Addiction Medicine.

SUMITT supports people experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions, providing expert clinical care, consultation, and workforce education across hospital and community settings.

SUMITT are looking for a Senior Clinician (OT3, P3, RPN4, SW3 / full-time or part-time) to join the team!

About the role:

  • Deliver short-term brief interventions to minimise harm from the interaction of mental health and substance use issues
  • Provide long-term treatment for consumers with highly complex dual-diagnosis needs
  • Offer specialist consultations to RMH clinicians and teams to build confidence and capability in co-occurring care
  • Deliver education and clinical support to the wider RMH workforce
  • Work across diverse settings including: RMH Mental Health Service clinics, The Mental Health & AOD Hub co-located within the RMH Emergency Department and Assertive community outreach and engagement

 

If you are:

  • a Psychologist (Clinical, Forensic, or Neuropsychology), Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or a Registered Psychiatric Nurse who holds the appropriate qualifications, memberships, or registration
  • 7+ years clinical experience in mental health and/or alcohol and drug services (5+ years for Psychologists and RPNs).
  • Skilled in assessment, treatment planning, brief interventions, and case management for dual diagnosis clients.
  • Experience in senior clinician or autonomous clinical roles with leadership skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communication with consumers, families, teams, and external services.
  • Knowledge of public mental health services, legislation, policies, and quality improvement.
