RMH Mental health Services are seeking a compassionate and experienced clinician to join our multidisciplinary team. In this senior clinical role supporting both HOPE and AOD, you will provide therapeutic assessment and support whilst delivering collaberative, person-centered care to individuals and families post-crisis.
About the Team
The Senior Clinician Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) role is integral to support delivery of evidence-based treatment for consumers experiencing dual diagnosis. This position will be supported by existing positions located in IWAMHS community teams as well as the established partnership with the Substance Use and Mental Illness Treating Team (SUMIT).
The Hospital Outreach Post-Suicidal Engagement (HOPE) program has been developed to provide support to individuals following a suicide attempt or after displaying serious suicide ideation, intent or planning in the RMH Mental Health Services (MHS) catchment area (City of Melbourne and Moonee Valley). HOPE will support clients for a period of up to 12 weeks, providing assertive and coordinated engagement via both outreach and clinic based therapeutic interventions within a collaborative clinical and non-clinical team.

About the Role
- Senior clinical role modelling and contribution to a positive team culture
- Outreach assessment in an acute setting.
- Provision of expert discipline advice as well as AOD primary and secondary consultation and education, established through professional development and ongoing commitment to learning.
- Deliver evidence-based treatment, regular review of client progress and when appropriate, effective transition planning.
- Support other clinical and non-clinical team members in their decision making
- Work closely with the Team Leader and Consultant Psychiatrist to apply their clinical knowledge and expertise to the assessment and delivery of evidence-based interventions to consumers with complex mental health related needs, where possible including family and carers in decisions.
- Ensure effective communication between mental health services departments and enhance a positive working relationship between these services.
About you:
- Demonstrated expertise in assessment and identifying suitable interventions.
- Developed ability to collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including a multi-disciplinary team
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications and experience.
- Well-developed level of knowledge and skills in the management and treatment of people using substances
- Demonstrated ability to engage individuals or families through telephone, face to face or online meetings in an empathic manner.
- Resilience, empathy, self-awareness, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
