The Royal Melbourne Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has a strong commitment to research.

The ICU has extensive experience in all aspects (site investigators, management committee members and principal investigators) of investigator-led and industry-sponsored trials (from phase 2 to phase 4) to evaluate ICU practice.

We are seeking a Clinical Research Nurse to join our ICU Research Department in a part-time fixed-term position.

About the role:

  • The Clinical Research Nurse will be supported by the Head of ICU Research and the ICU Research Manager. Will work within the Intensive Care Unit and report directly to ICU Nurse Unit Manager.
  • As a senior member of the ICU research team, the Clinical Research Nurse will coordinate and facilitate research studies within the ICU.
  • The Clinical Research Nurse will ensure the highest standard of care is delivered to all patients involved in clinical trials and, where relevant, their families, in partnership with all members of the multidisciplinary and research teams.  
  • The Clinical Research Nurse will be self-motivated and able to work independently will working closely with staff involved in research studies as well as key stakeholders.
  • The ICU research department provides 24/7 cover. The Clinical research Nurse would be required to be available to be part of the departments on call roster.

 

About you 

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse
  • Post Graduate Critical Care or relevant qualification
  • Masters degree or other relevant post graduate education

Essential

  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in an Intensive Care Unit or other relevant clinical experience
  • A minimum of two years research experience

Desirable

  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed IT skills
  • Self-motivated and directed, with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues on complex tasks with strict deadlines
