An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Clinical/Forensic Psychologist to join our Mental Health Forensic Interface Team (MH-FIT) — a state-wide specialist service operating across the North and West of Victoria.

MH-FIT provides assessment, treatment, and support for individuals referred by the Victorian Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (VFTAC) and forensic clinical specialists in area mental health services. The team delivers specialist forensic mental health services to people with mental illness who are at risk of serious offending — particularly those experiencing pathological grievance, violent ideation, or threats toward public figures, radicalisation, or extremism.

  • Providing secondary consultation to MH-FIT, RMH Mental Health Services, and external agencies
  • Conducting and interpreting SPJ risk assessments (e.g. HCR-20, SAVRY), and supporting clinicians to apply these tools effectively
  • Applying sound clinical judgement to complex forensic and mental health presentations
  • Acting as a secondary case manager, with potential for a small clinical caseload
  • Delivering person-centred, evidence-based treatment and care recommendations
  • Demonstrating flexibility in developing and refining the role based on service needs
  • Contributing to workforce development alongside the RMH Forensic Clinical Specialist

What you will bring:

  • You are a registered Psychologist with Clinical or Forensic endorsement and AHPRA Board Approved Supervisor status
  • You have a minimum 8 years’ experience in clinical and forensic assessment, treatment, and risk management
  • You are proficient in structured risk assessment tools (e.g. HCR-20, SAVRY, LSI-SV)
  • You are skilled in providing clinical supervision, consultation, and workforce development
  • You are a strong communicator and haver good organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • You have a current Victorian driver’s licence; experience in forensic mental health and a second language are desirable

Why work with us?

  • Work in a specialist forensic mental health service with statewide reach
  • Join a collaborative, expert multidisciplinary team making real impact
  • Access generous leave, salary packaging, and professional development support
  • Discounted health and wellbeing facility access with Fitness Passport
