The Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Department of Respiratory and Sleep Disorders Medicine is seeking a motivated Respiratory Scientist to join our high-performing team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality respiratory diagnostic services within a collaborative, research-driven environment.
The Department of Respiratory and Sleep Disorders Medicine at The Royal Melbourne Hospital provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and clinical services. These include a respiratory function laboratory, bronchoscopy and EBUS procedures, sleep diagnostics, respiratory care and ultrasound services, as well as outpatient clinics and consultative support across the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the broader Parkville Precinct.
Your New Role
As a Respiratory Scientist, you will:
- Conduct high-quality respiratory function testing for both inpatients and outpatients
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the laboratory
- Support and contribute to laboratory accreditation activities
- Attend and engage in ongoing laboratory training and team meetings
- Contribute to research, including presentation at scientific meetings and publication in peer-reviewed journals
- Provide support in education and training for scientists, students, and clinical staff
- Maintain a professional and ethical approach in accordance with the RMH Code of Conduct
About You
You are a passionate and curious scientist who:
- Holds a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science (or equivalent)
- Has knowledge and/or experience in respiratory physiology and lung function testing
- Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
- Works effectively within a multidisciplinary team and supports continuous improvement
- May be a member of ANZSRS or hold CRFS certification (desirable)
