CARISTA Research Nurse

Position: 0.5 FTE Fixed Term for 2 years
Department: Clinical Immunology and Allergy
As the Research Nurse for the CARISTA study, you will work with the CARISTA study team at the University of Melbourne and join the Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergy research nursing team at RMH, coordinating participant recruitment and follow-up for the CARISTA study. As a Research Nurse for the RMH Lead study site you will also be a resource for the other 7 CARISTA centres and participants.
The Creating A Risk assessment tool for allergic and Thunderstorm Asthma (CARISTA) study is a multi-centre study in Victoria funded by the MRFF to devise a risk assessment tool for allergic and Thunderstorm Asthma. The lead investigators at RMH are Prof Jo Douglass and Dr Rachel Tham, along with A/Prof M Rees, K Spriggs and Dr S Chan. The aim is to recruit 530 participants over the 7 study sites and to follow each of those participants for 2 consecutive grass pollen seasons, with a maximum of 200 recruited from RMH. Study participants will be recruited through a media campaign and established patient networks. Consented participants will provide a structured clinical allergy history recorded in REDCap and also using a digital diary to collect their asthma and hay fever symptoms as well as providing lung function and blood tests.
Your new role:
- Lead recruitment at RMH and support the overall delivery of the CARISTA study while meeting the highest standards of consent, clinical trial records and data collection.
- You will have some experience in clinical research and/or respiratory testing and be familiar with and have completed training in GCP.
- You will join an energetic team looking to achieve the CARISTA study and build on its findings for the benefit of all Victorians who annually suffer the risk of Thunderstorm asthma.

- Experienced and enthusiastic clinical nurse with research training and/or experience.
- Keen to join and help build a new research Centre and team and work to meet its objectives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
