Research Assistant – Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia

The Royal Melbourne Hospital

  • Part-time (32 hours/fortnight, Fixed Term (12 months)

The Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) service is part of the Parkville integrated Clinical Haematology Service and is located in the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Parkville.  The Department of Clinical Haematology is the largest in Victoria and the second largest in Australia.  We pride ourselves as a world-class specialist service that provides evidence-based approach to treatment choices, delivered by a highly effective multi-disciplinary and supportive care team.

Your role:

  • Responsible for the maintenance of internal CML database through the utilisation of various electronic medical records (EMR) systems, and by attending relevant departmental meetings including monthly CML/MPN meetings.
  • Work closely with CML leadership team to improve functionality of departmental databases
  • Liaise with other department and health information services within external institutions for the purpose of data collection
  • Delivery of quality of life (QoL) surveys to CML patients with data entry into CML database
  • Provide data management support to CML Team for both clinical outcome data and volume tracking, responding to data requests

About you:

  • Experience in a hospital setting
  • Familiarity with completion of web-based forms
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office programs in particular Excel or similar databases such as Redcap
  • Clinical Haematology experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as EPIC within VCCC will also be preferred but not mandatory
