About the role

Join the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) as a Registered Nurse and be part of a fast-paced, patient-focused environment where timely assessment, clinical decision-making and quality care are central to what we do.

AMU is a 32-bed unit providing rapid assessment and diagnosis for patients admitted from the Emergency Department and Community Services. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll support patients through their acute medical journey, with most patients expected to be discharged home or transferred to another service within 48–72 hours.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Safe, Timely, Effective and Person-centred (STEP) care to patients and the community
• Apply clinical knowledge and skills appropriate to your level of expertise to maintain a high standard of care
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in partnership with patients, families, carers and the multidisciplinary team
• Promote health and safety by identifying risks and implementing strategies to reduce harm
• Speak up for safety by raising concerns and contributing to a culture of respectful, open communication

About You

You are a Registered Nurse with acute clinical experience who brings sound clinical judgement, strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. You will also bring:

• Minimum 12 months’ acute nursing experience
• Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, problem-solving and prioritisation skills
• Ability to provide safe, high-quality and evidence-based patient care
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Motivation to learn, develop and build your clinical capability
• Reliability, professionalism and a strong commitment to patient safety
