About the role

5 North is a 20-bed ward specialising in General Medicine, caring for a diverse and complex patient population. The breadth of medical presentations provides our nursing team with the opportunity to develop and utilise a wide range of clinical skills and expertise.

Our nurses are supported to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care, with a strong focus on comprehensive general nursing skills, clinical assessment and the early recognition and management of the deteriorating patient. Working within a multidisciplinary team is central to our practice, with nursing, medical, allied health and pharmacy teams collaborating closely to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.

We pride ourselves on providing compassionate, respectful and high-quality care to our complex medical patients. We are equally committed to supporting our staff through strong clinical leadership, professional development and opportunities for ongoing learning and career growth.

Key Accountabilities

• Deliver evidence-based nursing care to patients with acute and complex medical needs
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care
• Support patients and their families through education, advocacy and clear communication
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, team-focused ward culture
• Participate in ongoing learning and contribute to clinical excellence

About You

• Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and a minimum of two years acute nursing experience.  
• Previous experience in General Medicine is highly desirable
• Strong clinical assessment and patient-centred care skills, with the ability to recognise and respond to the deteriorating patient
• Availability to work a 7-day rotating roster
