Ward 6SW is a dynamic 28-bed unit within the Medical Services Division at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. The unit provides specialised care in renal replacement therapies, including Haemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, and both pre- and post-operative renal transplant management. It is also one of the largest kidney transplant units in the country and plays a key role in the Australian and New Zealand Paired Kidney Exchange Program.

In addition, 6SW delivers expert care to patients from the Endocrinology and Diabetic Foot Unit. These patients present with complex and diverse needs, with a focus on interdisciplinary management of wound complications from advanced diabetes within an acute care setting.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, direct patient care. Your practice will be guided by critical thinking, evidence-based knowledge, and aligned with the values of The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Your new role:

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients with acute and complex medical needs
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care
  • Support patients and their families through education, advocacy and clear communication

  • Commit to ongoing professional development and clinical excellence

About You:

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Sound clinical reasoning and prioritisation skills
  • Commitment to safe, high-quality patient care
  • A positive and adaptable attitude
