About the Team:
Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services (RMH MHS) provides person-centred, recovery-oriented care, treatment and support through our multi-disciplinary workforce of skilled and dynamic clinicians, and Lived and Living experience (LLE) consumer and carer experts. We are dedicated to providing caring and high-quality specialist community and hospital-based mental health services for adults and older adults who are experiencing, or are at risk of developing a serious mental illness. We are committed to working with consumers during their recovery by offering trauma informed holistic and evidence-based treatment, which is inclusive of family, carers and kin and provided by staff with well-developed skills.
We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified Clinical Psychologists to join our Psychology Education Leadership team and the broader Learning and Professional Development team. About The Role:
The High-Risk Clinical Specialist will work across RMH MHS building capacity and processes for working with complex/high-risk consumers and supporting staff with the impact of this work:
- Providing expert consultation, supervision and guidance regarding consumers with high levels of complexity/high-risk.
- Training and education to build workforce capability in evidenced based treatments for complex consumers.
- Providing primary consultation, possibly with other staff, where appropriate.
- Providing peer group consultations/community of practice groups for the service.
- Holding the Enhanced Treatment Plans portfolio and supporting safety planning across the service.
- Holding the coordinator portfolio for the Inner West Incident Support Service, including organising defusing sessions and delivery of regular training to support staff in this area.
- Evaluating the above services and service provision.
The role will contribute to the provision of supervision to students, registrars and staff across the service and to the running of the Psychology Department. These roles will report professionally to the Principal Clinical Educator (P5) or Principal Clinical Psychologist and operationally to the LAPD coordinator.
About You:
Formal Qualifications:
- Registration as a Psychologist under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with practice endorsement as a Clinical, Forensic or Clinical Neuro Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (or eligibility to enter a registrar program as a clinical, forensic or clinical neuro psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia where relevant).
Essential:
- Demonstrated substantial experience in the application of clinical practice in mental health
- Board Approved Supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) and demonstrated skills and experience in professional (clinical) supervision; conducting training sessions and facilitating groups in a multidisciplinary context
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in workforce development including models and approaches that promote learning and practice development
- Demonstrated experience and competence in the delivery of training
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other disciplines
- An understanding of the policies and procedures associated with the public mental health services
- WWC Check
Desirable:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are highly encouraged to apply
- Experience in working with ACCHO and Aboriginal Communities and Families
- Postgraduate qualification(s) relevant to workforce education, or Substantial experience in development, implementation and evaluation of a broad range of individual and group professional development activities
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence
