About the role

Join The Royal Melbourne Hospital as a Grade 3 Prosthetist/Orthotist and play a key leadership role in delivering specialist rehabilitation prosthetic and orthotic services across the Royal Park Campus and Western Hospital.

Working within a highly regarded multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert clinical care to people with complex musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, with a particular focus on rehabilitation prosthetics and the Royal Park Campus definitive prosthetics program.

As a senior clinician, you will provide clinical leadership, support education and mentoring, contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives, and work collaboratively with internal and external partners to continually enhance patient outcomes.

Key Accountabilities

• Deliver advanced prosthetic and orthotic devices and services for patients with complex musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
• Provide specialist rehabilitation and definitive prosthetic services across RMH Campuses and Western Health
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to deliver coordinated, person-centred rehabilitation care.
• Coordinate amputee referral pathways, transfers of care and clinical handovers to support seamless patient transitions.
• Provide supervision, teaching and mentoring to Prosthetics & Orthotics staff and contribute to workforce education.
• Participate in multidisciplinary forums and provide specialist advice to support integrated patient care.
• Contribute to research, quality improvement and service development initiatives that enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes.

About You

You are an experienced Prosthetist/Orthotist with advanced rehabilitation expertise who demonstrates sound clinical decision making and the ability to work effectively within complex public health environments. You are confident providing clinical education, contributing to research and quality improvement initiatives, and building collaborative relationships that support high-quality, person-centred care.

You will also bring:

• A Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics (or equivalent).
• Eligibility for registration with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
• Drivers licence (Desirable)
• Certification in myoelectric and microprocessor prosthetic componentry (highly desirable).
• Experience with osseointegrated prosthetics and pattern recognition systems, and/or relevant postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards these) (desirable).
• Membership of the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association (highly desirable).
