New Graduate Physiotherapist

• 3 positions available – Full time with 4 month rotations
• 12 month fixed term from January 2027 – January 2028 
• Based across the Royal Melbourne Hospital’s city and Royal Park campuses 

About the Role

Start your physiotherapy career at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and gain broad experience across acute and subacute services, with opportunities to develop your skills, build confidence and explore future career pathways.

• Rotational Grade 1 Physiotherapy Position across the acute and subacute campuses. Rotations include medicine, surgery, ICU, orthopaedics, trauma, neurosciences, aged care and rehabilitation, including community and at home services. 
• The role involves the provision of a 7-day Physiotherapy service. You will be expected to contribute to the weekend service.  
• You will be provided opportunities to gain experience working in a well-supported multidisciplinary team environment with a wide variety of patients 
• You will have development opportunities across the Physiotherapy and Allied Health departments  
• This role is well supported by experienced and passionate senior physiotherapists who provide high-quality patient care as part of a broader multidisciplinary team  

Graduate Journey - Preceptorship Program

New graduate physiotherapists joining RMH in 2027 will be enrolled in our 12-month Preceptorship Program, designed to support your transition from university into clinical practice.

The program includes:

• Facilitated group supervision and professional development workshops
• 1:1 reflective discussions with an Allied Health Preceptor
• Structured support to build work readiness and professional skills
• Opportunities to connect with an interdisciplinary team
• Individualised support throughout your first year

The Preceptorship Program is designed to support early career clinicians to strengthen professional attributes required for work readiness, assist integration into an interdisciplinary workforce and provide structured and individualised support throughout the year.

Key Accountabilities

• Plan and implement an efficient, effective, culturally responsive and client centred physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management 
• Contribute to the operational needs of the department across a 7-day service model 
• Work across a variety of wards and caseloads, being flexible to meet the clinical and workforce needs of the Physiotherapy department 
• Comply with legal, professional, ethical and other relevant standards, codes and guidelines 
• Evaluate in an inclusive, collaborative, consultative, culturally responsive inter-professional and client centred model of practice 

About You

• A recognised degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy 
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency 
• Completed a hospital-based student physiotherapy placement 
• The ability to effectively prioritise and have strong time management skills 
• Strong interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills 
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team 
• A culturally sensitive, patient centred approach to practice
