Consumer Peer Support Worker

- This role will primarily be in our inpatient John Cade Unit.
- Full-time role Monday to Friday – hours negotiable.
RMH-MHS is at the forefront of innovative mental health and addiction treatment. We provide holistic support to individuals in need, and we value the contributions of peer support workers in our team. We are looking for a new team member for the Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health to work in our inpatient unit and across other programs as needed. We are dedicated to a culturally safe, trauma-informed practice within mental health services. The team include both clinical and lived and living experience staff with a focus on inclusivity of consumers and their individual support needs.
Your new role:
As a Peer Support Worker you will play a crucial role within the inpatient unit. Drawing from your personal experience of mental health service use, you will provide unique and person-centred support. Your role includes supporting consumers during their stay with us, facilitating and participating in group programs, and connecting people with Lived Experience led groups and our Safe Haven.
About you:
- You have some experience in a similar role.
- You are passionate about supporting people and encouraging self-determination.
- You are patient and willing to meet people where they are at.
- Willingness to work in other parts of the service where our other peers are located eg; our Safe Haven.
