  • Work within a collaborative, high-volume payroll team supporting over 30,000 employees

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of Victoria's leading public health services, renowned for excellence, innovation and compassionate care. We are currently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance team within Melbourne Health Financial Shared Services (MHFSS).

Reporting to the Payroll Operations Manager, you will be part of a shared services function that processes payroll for over 30,000 employees across highly complex Enterprise Agreements spanning The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Western Health, The Royal Children's Hospital and The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. This role is responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, statutory compliance and high-quality client service, while contributing to continuous improvement and payroll-related projects.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in payroll processing within a complex organisation
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, EBAs and statutory requirements
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with a client-focused approach
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a team-based environment
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Office
  • Commitment to The Melbourne Way – people first, leading with kindness, excellence together

Desirable

  • Experience with payroll-related projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with automated payroll systems and willingness to adapt to new technologies
