  • Grade 2 (HS2) + Super + Salary Packaging + Weekend Penalties + Annual Increment

We're seeking a dedicated and results-oriented Patient Liaison Officer (PLO) to join our dynamic team. In this patient facing role, you are responsible for providing internal and external stakeholders with relevant information relating to election and informed financial consent relating to Private and Compensable admissions.

Your new role

Reporting to the Patient Liaison Manager - Revenue Services, the Patient Liaison Officer will work closely with patients, families, clinical and administration teams across the Emergency Department (ED) and wards and will be responsible for encouraging private and compensable admissions. Your day to day will include:

  • Timely and appropriate classification of patients with eligible health funds or third party cover (eg: TAC & Workcover).
  • Approaching Medicare Ineligible Patients (Overseas Visitors) to identify insurance status.
  • Working collaboratively with other Revenue Services workstreams (Billing, Collections and Cashiers) and be co-located across all RMH sites as required.
  • Participating in continuous improvement projects and playing a role in automation developments as a billing subject matter expert.
  • Being available weekends on a rotating roster to provide a roaming PLO service across wards and ED.

  • Ability to analyse and problem solve when interpreting data.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, including a proven capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external groups.
  • Experience in hospital billing and debt collection.
