The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Cardiac Surgery Operations Manager to join our team and lead strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing patient access to cardiac surgery services.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care by working collaboratively with key stakeholders across internal departments and external healthcare organisations to streamline referral pathways, reduce wait times, and improve overall access to life-saving cardiac surgical services.
About the Role
As Cardiac Surgery Operations Manager, you will:
- Lead stakeholder engagement across multiple departments within the Royal Melbourne Hospital, including cardiology, intensive care, anaesthesia, nursing, and administration
- Build and maintain relationships with external healthcare providers, referring hospitals, and primary care networks to facilitate seamless patient referrals
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives and projects designed to improve patient access to cardiac surgery services
- Analyse patient flow data and identify bottlenecks in the surgical pathway, proposing evidence-based solutions
- Coordinate project activities including planning, resource allocation, risk management, and progress reporting
- Chair meetings and working groups with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to drive collaborative problem-solving
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to patient access, wait times, and service quality
- Support change management processes to ensure successful implementation of new models of care
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in health management, business, project management, or a related field
- Proven project management experience within a healthcare setting, preferably in surgical or acute care services
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships across clinical and administrative teams
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively
- Analytical capabilities with experience in data analysis, reporting, and performance monitoring
- Knowledge of healthcare systems and understanding of patient flow and access principles
- Project management certification (such as PRINCE2, PMP, or Agile) highly regarded
- Commitment to patient-centred care and improving health outcomes
