Operational Improvement Lead - Specialist Clinics

The Operational Improvement Lead is a key member of the Specialist Clinics leadership team, and is responsible for identifying, designing, and implementing process improvements to drive operational efficiency, effectiveness and innovation across non-admitted services at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), to support the delivery of STEP (Safe, Timely, Efficient and Patient Centred) care for our patients. This will be achieved utilising robust project and change management methodology, data analysis, effective stakeholder engagement and management, clear and timely project documentation and reporting, and consumer partnership/co-design.
This position is also responsible for leading projects to ensure compliance with the relevant Victorian Department of Health (DH) policies. This role engages with a range of stakeholders, including RMH and Parkville Precinct Electronic Medical Record (EMR) teams. There may be a future opportunity to provide direct support to the EMR teams to progress changes that drive improvement work for non-admitted care at RMH.

The Role:
- Oversee the Specialist Clinics improvement program, including the currency of the annual business plan
- Identify opportunities for process optimisation and lead initiatives to enhance operational workflows
- Lead process improvement initiatives, including define and document project scope, aim/objectives, deliverables, evaluation criteria, timeframe for completion and sustainability plan in consultation with sponsor/leads and relevant steering committee/working group
- Collect, analyse, and interpret operational data to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making and guide improvements
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of implemented improvements; use metrics to continuously monitor performance and ensure ongoing improvements
- Undertake process mapping and co-design where required, including with consumers
- Provide direct support as required to local and Parkville EMR teams to progress work that drives improvement work in Specialist Clinics

- Proven coaching and facilitation skills
- Proven system thinking and change management skills
- Proven ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders to foster and enable cultural change
- Ability to facilitate consumer engagement and co-design
- Ability to monitor, evaluate and report on project status, outcomes, and impact
