The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking motivated and reliable Operating Theatre Assistants (OTAs) to join our Perioperative Services team. You will play a key role in supporting the safe and timely delivery of care within one of Victoria’s largest and busiest surgical services.

Our department operates across 16 theatres, 3 anaesthetic-supported off-the-floor procedure rooms, and 25 recovery bays. As a valued team member, you will contribute to excellent patient outcomes by performing critical support tasks including patient transport, cleaning, restocking, and theatre turnaround.

Your New Role:

As an Operating Theatre Assistant, you’ll work within a high-performing multidisciplinary team to:

  • Transport patients, equipment, and clinical supplies across the perioperative suite
  • Clean and prepare operating rooms between cases and at end of day
  • Restock consumables and manage waste, linen and recycling
  • Provide non-clinical assistance to nursing and technical staff
  • Maintain a safe, clean and efficient environment to support surgical services
  • Work across a rotating roster, including weekends and on-call as required

About You:

  • Certificate III in Health Services (Patient Support) or minimum 12 months of health-related study (and currently enrolled)
  • Experience in a hospital or support services environment desirable
  • Committed to teamwork, reliability, and excellence in patient care
  • Able to follow procedures, take direction, and work proactively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physically capable and confident with manual handling procedures
  • Flexible and able to adapt in a fast-paced clinical setting
