  • Join a 16-Theatre Suite Covering All Surgical Specialties
  • Contribute to a High-Performing Trauma and Emergency Surgical Team

The Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Perioperative Services team is seeking passionate and skilled Theatre Technicians to help deliver outstanding surgical care. As a leading trauma centre with a dynamic and fast-paced environment, we offer you the opportunity to work across all surgical specialties in a collaborative and patient-focused team. No two days are the same in our theatre suite — and every team member plays a vital role in delivering safe, timely, and effective care.

Your New Role

  • Provide vital support in the operating suite by assisting with patient transfers, theatre set-up, equipment handling and cleaning, and maintaining stock levels
  • Rotate through a broad range of surgical specialties — from trauma and emergency surgery to orthopaedics and neurosurgery
  • Work a 24/7 rotating roster including on-call shifts, with strong support from the Theatre Support Services Manager
  • Be part of a cohesive team committed to safety, excellence, and patient-centred care
  • Maintain theatre equipment, assist in positioning lights, perform routine cleaning, and support clinical teams in real-time

About You

  • Hold a Certificate III or IV in Health Services Assistance (Operating Theatre Technical Support) or equivalent
  • Have recent experience working as a Theatre Technician in a busy operating theatre environment
  • Thrive in a fast-paced setting, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Comfortable with rotating shifts and being on-call as required
  • Value professional development and a culture of continuous improvement
