About The Royal Melbourne Hospital:

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is one of Victoria’s largest and most well-respected public health services, providing outstanding care, research, and innovation 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Our People & Culture team are looking for a proactive, experience safety culture expert to provide coaching, advise and practical support to our managers, Health & Safety Representative (HSRs) and our employees.

The role will support the implementation of the hospital’s OHS Management System, partnering with teams to identify and manage risks, investigate incidents, and develop effective controls

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Promote and model safe work practices, wellbeing, and a psychologically safe environment.
  • Provide clear OHS education and training to staff, ensuring legal and practical relevance.
  • Collaborate with teams to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective controls.
  • Maintain accurate records, support incident investigations, and share key learnings.
  • Work within scope, seek feedback, engage in ongoing learning, and respect RMH policies.

 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Strong knowledge of OHS legislation and at least 3 years' experience in complex settings
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive cultural and safety improvements
  • Skilled in risk analysis, reporting, and using incident/hazard management systems
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and training delivery skills across diverse audiences
  • Desirable: experience in healthcare OHS, psychosocial safety, change management, or auditing
