The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking a visionary and accomplished Director of Nursing and Operations to lead and advance clinical care, workforce strategy, and operational performance across our Surgical Services portfolio. This is a rare opportunity to join one of Victoria’s most respected health services in a senior executive role, influencing the delivery of safe, timely, and person-centred surgical care.
Your New Role:
- Provide strategic and professional leadership across Surgical Services, encompassing 16 operating theatres, 8 surgical wards, and a dedicated Day Procedure Unit.
- Lead high-performing nursing teams, ensuring evidence-based practice, appropriate skill mix, and outstanding patient experience.
- Drive innovation in clinical service delivery, quality improvement, education, and research.
- Partner with the General Manager, Surgical Services and other senior leaders to shape service direction, optimise resource utilisation, and deliver on key operational and financial objectives.
- Foster a culture of safety, excellence, and collaboration in line with RMH’s values and the Melbourne Way.
About You:
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and relevant postgraduate qualifications.
- Demonstrated senior leadership experience in a complex health setting, preferably within surgical services.
- Proven capability in strategic planning, workforce leadership, operational management, and change implementation.
- A collaborative leader who builds strong relationships and inspires teams to achieve shared goals.
- Commitment to clinical governance, patient safety, professional development, and healthcare innovation.
