Job Description: 

Metabolic Disease Unit Research Nurse

  • Part Time / Fixed Term for 12 months
  • Coordinate the delivery of early phase clinical trials investigating novel therapies for rare diseases.

About the Role

The MDU is a specialist state-wide service providing care for patients with a broad range of inherited metabolic conditions, including phenylketonuria, lysosomal storage disorders, glycogen storage diseases and mitochondrial disease.

Key Accountabilities

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of clinical trials within the Metabolic Diseases Unit.
  • Prepare and manage ethics and governance submissions, study documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Recruit, consent and support participants throughout their research journey.
  • Maintain accurate study records, data entry and reporting in accordance with Good Clinical Practice standards.

About You

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with at least two years' experience as a Research Nurse or Study Coordinator.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating clinical trials and managing multiple priorities in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience developing clinical guidelines, protocols and research documentation.

Desirable

  • Experience working in rare disease or metabolic disease clinical trials.
  • Previous experience preparing ethics submissions and maintaining HREC correspondence.
