Mental Health Nurse - Research Lead

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is a leading public hospital delivering specialist mental health services 24/7. We advance nursing through innovation, research, and strong academic partnerships. This role offers a unique chance to lead impactful research shaping future care.
The Mental Health Nurse Research Lead will coordinate nursing research projects, foster partnerships across RMH, the Collaborative Centre, and the University of Melbourne, and translate research into clinical practice, driving innovation and improving mental health outcomes.
Your new role:
- Lead mental health nursing research priorities in partnership with the University of Melbourne and RMH Nursing Research teams
- Drive key projects, including Safe Wards SUPER, Equally Well intervention evaluation, and reducing restrictive interventions
- Collaborate with First Nations Mental Health Nurses on culturally informed research initiatives
- Contribute to nursing innovation projects including I-Check implementation and the Nurse Prescribing Project
- Advance the Mental Health Nursing Enquiry framework and support professional practice reporting
- Build research networks across RMH, academic, and sector partners
About you:
- Extensive clinical experience in mental health nursing with advanced postgraduate qualifications (Masters or PhD preferred)
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of professional, legal, and ethical requirements in clinical research
- Organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple complex projects
- Research experience or a strong interest in mental health nursing research, with publication history desirable
