Media Advisor
The Communications team at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is looking for an enthusiastic and driven early-career media wizz to join our team. Do you love telling stories? Are you an avid news reader with a can-do attitude? This could be the job for you! Reporting to the Media and External Communications Manager, the Media Advisor is primarily responsible for the day-to-day delivery of high-quality media – both proactive and reactive – as well as media relations and associated content for the RMH. While experience in developing and delivering powerful stories is desired, this role is perfect for a self-starter with an emerging expertise in media management.
Your new role:
- Find and tell engaging stories through media that that support the work of our people and our strategic goals
- Create strong relationships internally and build contacts externally to support regular media opportunities
- Pitch new ideas and help create an ongoing calendar of media stories
- Write compelling media releases that capture the crux of a story and can be utilised across RMH channels
About you:
- You have relevant qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations or similar fields
- You have an ability to build strong internal relationships to uncover great media opportunities that support the work of our people and our strategic goals
- You have a strong understanding of the elements that make a story newsworthy and an ability to generate ongoing media opportunities
- You have excellent written and people skills
