Your Opportunity

The Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant play a key role in enhancing the wellbeing, independence, and quality of life of residents through meaningful activities and engagement. This role works closely with residents, families, volunteers, and the multidisciplinary care team, with all interactions guided by person-centred care, dignity, respect, and inclusion.

Duties Include:

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating individual and group lifestyle programs
  • Support residents to participate in social, recreational, cultural, and therapeutic activities Promote resident choice, independence, and engagement in daily activities
  • Provide one-on-one engagement for residents with complex needs Support residents living with dementia and other cognitive or physical impairments
  • Assist with outings, special events, and celebrations
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to resident participation and preferences
  • Liaise with clinical staff to ensure activities align with residents’ care plans
  • Ensure activity areas and equipment are clean, safe, and well maintained

Royal Melbourne Hospital operates two residential aged care facilities located in Brunswick and Keilor East. Cyril Jewell House, located in the quiet suburban streets of East Keilor, accommodates up to 45 residents. Our team supports residents with a range of needs, including dementia, multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s disease, mental health conditions, and age-related physical health challenges.

About You:

  • Certificate III or IV in Leisure and Health, Individual Support, or similar (desirable)
  • Experience working in aged care or with older adults (desirable)
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to engage residents with empathy, creativity, and patience
  • Confidence working with residents living with dementia
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
  • Commitment to the Melbourne Way by prioritising people, leading with kindness, and striving for excellence
