Your new role

As Legal Counsel, you will work as part of a high-performing and collaborative Legal Services team, reporting to the Director – Legal Services.

You will provide practical and commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of areas including contracting, procurement, IT, privacy and governance. The role will see you partnering closely with stakeholders across the organisation, supporting key projects and ensuring RMH operates within a strong legal and compliance framework.

You will:

  • Provide clear, practical legal advice on commercial and operational matters
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts and legal documents
  • Support procurement and contract management activities across RMH
  • Advise on legal, compliance and governance risks
  • Undertake legal research and interpret legislation to support decision-making
  • Deliver training and guidance to staff on legal matters
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes

 

About you

You are a proactive, solutions-focused legal professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working across a diverse portfolio of work.

You bring:

  • A law degree and current unrestricted practising certificate in Victoria
  • 5–7 years’ post-admission experience in a mid/top-tier firm or in-house
  • Strong experience in commercial contracting and negotiation
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and risk assessment skills
  • Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team

Desirable experience includes:

  • IT, software and technology contracts
  • Privacy, data protection and cyber security
  • Experience within health or government sectors
