The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) part of the Parkville Precinct and is one of Australia's leading public hospitals, providing a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical, and mental health services, as well as rehabilitation, aged care, specialist clinics and community programs.
The RMH Mental Health Service (RMH-MHS) Learning and Development Program, guided by a comprehensive strategy aligned with key mental health frameworks and hospital priorities, aims to enhance workforce skills and capabilities. The Learning and Development Coordinator will play a pivotal role in delivering this strategy by ensuring timely execution, coordinating existing activities, identifying gaps, and supporting continuous evaluation. Acting as the operational hub, the Coordinator will foster a smooth, professional, and user-focused program that strengthens the RMH-MHS workforce and meets organisational and compliance requirements.

About the role:
- Embed evidence-based, recovery-focused learning and professional development across the program to ensure high-quality care
- Build strong partnerships with Practice Leads, educators, and stakeholders to support workforce collaboration and development
- Manage and promote the use of internal learning platforms, resources, and a comprehensive training calendar, including external accredited opportunities
- Facilitate and co-facilitate training using adult learning principles, supporting multidisciplinary early career programs and diverse learner needs
- Evaluate and continuously improve L&D initiatives by integrating best practices, research translation, and supporting mental health reform and innovation
About you:
Formal Qualifications
- This is a multidisciplinary role open to Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers, Psychologists or Occupational Therapists (must hold relevant degree, registration and/or membership as per attached Position Description)
Essential
- Over 10 years’ experience in mental health with expertise in evidence-based, recovery-focused care for individuals and families
- Proven ability to coordinate complex programs and lead multidisciplinary teams effectively
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with diverse stakeholders
- Capable of working independently while supporting best practice implementation and clinical care standards
Desirable
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects, including the planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluation of initiatives and service change
- Experience in designing and delivering Learning and development in an Adult learning setting
- Additional training and education in Learning and Development approaches and delivery
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are highly encouraged to apply
