Job Description: 

LGBTIQA+ Mental Health Clinician

OT/SW Grade 4, RPN4, Psychologist Grade 3

The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services (RMH MHS)

  • New role to support LGBTIQA+ consumers experiencing mental ill health or distress
  • Permanent Part Time
  • Work across bed based and community services
  • Mix of direct client work, consultation and service development opportunities
  • Make a difference for LGBTIQA+ consumers across large mental health service

About RMH MHS and the Community Team

 As part of commitment to providing equity in health care, RMH MHS is establishing the LGBTIQA+ Mental Health Senior Clinician role. This role supports the service to embed diversity, equity and inclusion through an intersectional lens and drive best practice in LGBTIQA+ mental health treatment, care and support alongside consumers, carers and communities.

Your new role

  • Provide direct clinical interventions and secondary consultations to support consumers, carers and family as they move through the service
  • Participate in review and enhancement of procedures and policies, improve linkages and relationships across the service and with other stakeholders.
  • Work with enthusiastic multidiscipline professionals including existing LGBTIQA+ roles at RMH 
  • Demonstrate and extend your leadership skills to drive best practice and positive culture across RMH MHS
  • Actively engage in supervision, support activities, discipline specific meetings and professional development

About you

  • Motivated to champion LGBTIQA+ inclusive and affirming practice across all RMH MHS teams
  • Possess formal qualifications and registration as an Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Social Worker or Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Show leadership skills including initiative, advanced communication skills and the capacity and willingness to further develop these
