Job Description: 

Certified Italian Interpreter

The Royal Melbourne Hospital

 

  • Provide a high-quality Interpreter Service to support consumers.
  • Be a part of a dynamic team dedicated to the provision of interpreter and translation services.
  • Part-time 0.6 EFT ongoing role.

 

The Interpreter Service sits within Allied Health and is committed to providing responsive language services that include interpreter and translation services. We have an in-house team of 21 including the Manager of the service and booking clerk. The team provides appropriately credentialed interpreter services for patients, families and staff to facilitate safe communication throughout a patient’s journey at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (City and Royal Park Campuses).

 

Your new role:

  • Provide accurate, timely, and ethical language interpretation which helps facilitate safe care.
  • Solutions focused with an ability to meet deadlines, work independently and within a team.
  • Work with RMH stakeholders and the wider community to improve culturally responsive and aware services

 

About you:

  • Use your NAATI Interpreter, and Translator certification to support the RMH team in providing safe, timely and patient centred care.
  • You hold excellent communication skills with a track record of working in partnership with consumers, patients and where applicable carers and families.
  • You have previous Interpreting experience working in a health service and can prioritise tasks effectively to meet emergent situations.
