The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is one of Australia’s leading public health care providers. We provide a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical and mental health services, as well as rehabilitation, aged care, specialist clinics and community programs. We have services across multiple locations including the Parkville and Royal Park Campuses, in the community and in people’s homes.

  • One-year program, with ongoing contract for career security
  • Opportunity to develop a range of nursing skills with two 6-month clinical rotations in a wide variety of specialities
  • 0.8EFT positions (8 shifts/fortnight) to support work-life balance in your first year of practice
  • Graduate specific orientation and professional development program to set you up for success
  • Dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing and Early Career Nurse Educator to prioritise the needs of our graduate nurses

About your team:

We are exceptionally proud to have a team of 90 clinical nurse educators and clinical support nurses who are located on the ward. They are close by to offer you expert supervision, support and education and a safe space when you need a moment to debrief.

Each clinical area has a dedicated preceptorship model, tailormade for that speciality. We aim for preceptors to work alongside you for your supernumerary period, then for the initial period of your rotation, ranging from 4 to 6 weeks and first set of night shifts.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Completed all training requirements and will qualify for registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Midwife (RM) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia by February 2026.
  • Be an Australian/NZ citizen OR temporary resident who holds a visa that gives them the “Right to Work” in Australia.
  • Eligible for PMCV (Allocation & Placement Service) match
