The Royal Melbourne Hospital & Goulburn Valley Health

The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Goulburn Valley Health offer a joint program with six-month rotations at both metropolitan and regional sites. This unique opportunity allows you to experience the diversity, rewards, and challenges of both settings.

Both hospitals provide strong support through dedicated clinical educators, support nurses, and preceptors available seven days a week.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital delivers a wide range of health services across Parkville, Royal Park, and the community. Goulburn Valley Health offers acute, aged, and specialist care across Shepparton, Rushworth, and Tatura.

About the Graduate Nurse Program:

  • One-year program, with ongoing contract for career security
  • Opportunity to develop a range of nursing skills with two 6-month clinical rotations in a wide variety of specialities
  • 0.8EFT positions (8 shifts/fortnight) to support work-life balance in your first year of practice
  • Graduate specific orientation and professional development program to set you up for success
  • Dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing and Early Career Nurse Educator to prioritise the needs of our graduate nurses

About your team:

We are proud to have 90 clinical nurse educators and support nurses based on the wards, providing expert supervision, education, and a safe space for debriefing. Each clinical area has a tailored preceptorship model, with preceptors working closely with you during your supernumerary period, the first 4 to 6 weeks of your rotation, and your initial night shifts..

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Completed all training requirements and will qualify for registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Midwife (RM) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia by February 2026.
  • Be an Australian/NZ citizen OR temporary resident who holds a visa that gives them the “Right to Work” in Australia.
  • Eligible for PMCV (Allocation & Placement Service) match
