Senior Speech Pathologist, Clinical Education & Aged Care

We are seeking an experienced Grade 3 or Grade 4 Speech Pathologist who is passionate about clinical education, developing others and improving care for older people.
This is an exciting opportunity to bring together your clinical expertise, education skills and interest in leadership to help shape speech pathology practice and workforce development across our residential aged care services.
For an experienced Grade 3 Speech Pathologist, this role provides an opportunity to build your leadership, education and service development experience. For a Grade 4 clinician, it offers the scope to provide strategic leadership and shape education, workforce capability and clinical practice across the service.
Joining the RMH Speech Pathology team, you will be part of an integrated multidisciplinary service providing care across acute, subacute, community and residential aged care settings. You will work alongside experienced clinicians and leaders to build clinical capability, promote evidence-based practice and support high-quality, person-centred care.
The Role
Working with Speech Pathology and Residential Aged Care leaders, you will coordinate and lead speech pathology education and workforce development initiatives across RMH Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs).
Depending on your experience and level of appointment, you will have opportunities to:
- Lead and further develop clinical education and placement programs for speech pathology students in aged care
- Support clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop confidence and capability in communication, swallowing and mealtime management
- Promote contemporary, person-centred practice that supports residents’ independence, informed choice, dignity of risk and quality of life
- Develop and strengthen education resources, competency frameworks and sustainable learning systems
- Build strong partnerships with aged care teams, universities and professional organisations
- Contribute to quality improvement, research, evaluation and knowledge translation
- Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to speech pathologists and other healthcare professionals
- Strengthen opportunities for student education and help develop the future speech pathology workforce
- Contribute to service development, governance and strategic initiatives appropriate to your level of experience
- Represent RMH Speech Pathology through professional networks, education forums and collaborative initiatives
About You
You are an experienced Speech Pathologist who enjoys developing others and is looking for an opportunity to make a broader contribution to clinical practice and workforce development.
You may already be working at a senior leadership level, or you may be a Grade 3 clinician ready to take the next step in your education and leadership career.
You will bring:
- Strong clinical experience as a Speech Pathologist (Grade 3 – min 7 years, Grade 4 – min 10 years), with experience relevant to aged care, dysphagia and/or communication highly regarded
- Experience in clinical education, student or staff supervision, mentoring or professional development
- A strong commitment to evidence-based, person-centred care
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to engage and collaborate effectively with clinicians, leaders and multidisciplinary teams
- An interest in developing innovative approaches to education and workforce capability
- Experience in quality improvement, service development, education program development and/or evaluation
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative Speech Pathology team
- Enthusiasm for leadership, innovation and improving outcomes for older people
Your scope of responsibility will reflect your experience and Grade 3 or Grade 4 appointment, with opportunities for professional growth and increasing leadership responsibility.
