Grade 3 Occupational Therapist - Trauma and Surgical Services

- Flexible roster (including weekends) in a supportive Occupational Therapy team
- Part-time (0.63 EFT) fixed term until 25 March 2027, with career development opportunities through supervision

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), part of the Parkville Precinct, is a leading public hospital delivering comprehensive medical, surgical, mental health, rehabilitation, and community services.
As a Grade 3 Occupational Therapist, you will provide advanced, patient-centred care and clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on driving quality improvement, research, and professional development, while overseeing risk management, education, and supervision of junior staff. You will apply strong clinical reasoning and case management to support effective interventions, family engagement, and safe discharge, while contributing to service innovation and improvement across acute and subacute settings.
Your New Role:
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred care within the surgical and trauma stream, including assessment, intervention, and discharge planning in acute wards.
- Provide supervision, education, and support to junior occupational therapists, allied health assistants, and students.
- Use strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring coordinated and responsive care.
- Contribute to clinical leadership and actively support the 7-day trauma service.

- Experienced in acute hospital settings, with a collaborative and proactive approach to teamwork and leadership.
- A skilled communicator with a strong commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others.
- AHPRA-registered Occupational Therapist with a focus on delivering evidence-based practice.
- Value working within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment and contributing positively to team culture.
