Job Description:

Grade 3 Allied Health Professional – Flying Squad
The Royal Melbourne Hospital

  • Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or other Allied Health professional groups are welcomed to apply
  • Ongoing Full Time position
  • Based at City campus, working across City and Royal Park campuses

The Flying Squad is a targeted specialist team of senior Allied Health professionals focused on complex discharge planning throughout the hospital, with the aim to reduce patients’ length of stay. This team is involved in complex problem solving and unique discharge planning whilst working alongside the treating multidisciplinary team.

This role presents a unique opportunity to network within Allied Health and more widely throughout the organisation, utilising your clinical skills and experience to transform your career into trans-professional practice. With no two days or complex problems to solve being the same, this is a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of the wider organisation and demands of an acute hospital environment.

 Your new role:

  • Collaborate with your colleagues, responding to the needs of consumers requiring complex discharge planning during their inpatient stay.
  • Provide excellent clinical care and expertise across but not limited to acute services.
  • Be part of and contribute to dynamic and progressive Allied Health, Medical and Nursing teams.
  • Collaborate with community-based services and organisations in the best interest of the consumer.

 About you:

  • You are a qualified and highly skilled Allied Health Professional.
  • You deliver excellent consumer focussed clinical care to patients and their families and/or carers.
  • You demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the experience and skills to mentor and supervise junior staff.
  • You are a quick learner with a proven ability to work autonomously in a hospital environment.

Benefits:

  • Be part of a supportive and values-driven workplace culture
  • Career growth opportunities, ongoing training, and professional development
  • Access to Health & Wellbeing programs including Fitness Passport, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and Staff Peer Support
  • Salary packaging, on-site car parking, and great public transport access
